Dr. T.K. Joshi, MBBS, MS, MSc (Occupational Medicine, London ), Cer. OEM (UCSF), DLSHTM (Occ. Health) U.K., FFOM (Royal College of Physicians, London). Visiting Professor Drexel University, School of Public Health, Philadelphia. He was a visiting research fellow at London, School of Hygiene, at TUC Centenary Institute of Occupational Health. Dr. T.K Joshi specializes in occupational and environmental medicine, an area which has a global shortage of specialists including North America and Europe. He trained in Occupational and Environmental Health at prestigious institutions like TUC Centenary Institute of Occupational Health, London University, and Division of Occupational and Environmental medicine, University of California, San Francisco. He was a visitng research fellow at the London School of Hygiene at T.U.C. Centenary Institute of Occupational Health. Dr. Joshi has known scores of eminent scientist and physicians all over the world, many of whom have become his personal friends and have become associated with the centre at MAMC. He has visited famed institutions like Health and Safety Executive, UK; National Safety Council, USA Washington; National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Cincinnati, USA; Occupational Safety and Health Administration, USA (visited as a distinguished visitor sponsored by US Embassy, New Delhi; Centre for Disease Control, Atlanta, USA, Institute of Working Life, Sweden ; Institute of Occupational Health Finland; National Commission on Occupational Safety and Health, Sydney; Queens land University, International Labour Office, Geneva, Safety and Health Branch and several other institutions in America, Europe, Russia, Australia, Asia and other countries to develop the centre, the first in a teaching institution . Dr. Joshi has been a national consultant to WHO as well as ILO. He has visited large global corporations, and advised several Indian corporations on strengthening occupational health and safety. Dr. Joshi has interacted with unions and NGOs published in National and International Journals, lectured extensively all over the world, and encouraged many graduates to work in occupational and environment health. He feels that occupational and environmental health in India is not well recognised and there is a need to develop it for prevention and control of occupational risks as these take a heavy toll o f human life in India and other developing regions. Dr. Joshi’s expertise has been utilized by World Health Organization, International Labour Office, Geneva, International Agency for Research on Cancer, World Bank, Indian Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Ministry of Health, and several other national and international organizations.
